Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Business Head (Gum & Chocolate) the jobholder’s responsibilities will include:
  • Builds partnership with customers in the modern trade channel, leading and influencing them to deliver the annual growth objectives
  • Development and completion of performance scorecards for the entire Modern Trade team
  • Manages the Sales, Trade Expenditures and operating expenses (OPEX) budgets of the Modern Trade channel
  • Managing trading terms and ensuring excellent adherence to negotiation terms
  • Trains the Company Modern Trade Sales force and provides Sales and Merchandising expertise to customers to achieve and maximize distribution and display opportunities, consistent with established Company merchandising principles.
  • Together with the Merchandising Supervisor, lead, mentor, coach, train and manage the performance of the Company Merchandisers to ensure the achievement of the sales budget and display objectives in their different regions
  • Provides direct supervision to the Brand Coordinators in the Non-Mega channels
  • Looks for opportunity to improve Planograms, place supplemental displays and POS Materials
  • Makes professional and effective presentations to external customers (e.g. KA personnel) and internal customers (e.g. Company Management) to influence distribution and merchandising decisions regarding the Modern Trade Channels
  • Ensure fresh product availability of Gum and Chocolate brands in the marketplace through adherence to proper warehouse rotation and right customer inventory levels via effective volume forecasting process
  • Complete reports on a timely basis, reflecting an accurate description of the weekly or monthly events in the marketplace
  • Be regularly informed of the retail developments in the modern trade channel
  • Looks for creative ways to resolve problems and challenges arising in the modern trade channel and takes direct responsibility for poor performance within the MT Channel
  • Recommends and participates in the establishment of pricing strategies and in the development of new or modified merchandising techniques.
  • Be proactive and timely in managing sales issues, deductions and returns
  • Ensure all MT channel resource working under him/her are motivated and engaged
  • Drive competitive intelligence

 

Knowledge & Skill requirements         

  • Degree/Higher National Diploma
  • 7+ years’ work sales experience, with experience in Key Account & Modern Trade Management; and Sales operation and proven consistent result delivery
  • Proven Selling skills and ability to leverage insights to solve business challenges
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Very effective communicator, with expert fluency of verbal and written communication skills
  • Financial acumen
  • Computer software knowledge with Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Capable of breakthrough thinking and ability to navigate complex challenges
  • Strong desire to train and drive associate engagement
  • Willingness to create collaborative relationship with internal and external customers
  • Ability to travel
