The U.S. Embassy in Abuja, is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position of:
Position : Information Resource Center Director

Work Hours: Full time; 40 hours/week
Basic Functions
The position directs and manages a medium sized Information Resources Center (IRC) and supervises one IRC Assistant.
S/he performs and oversees in-depth research in response to inquiries of wide scope and complexity from Nigeria target audience, Public Affairs Section and other mission offices in support of mission goals.
The incumbent evaluates U.S. government and legislative documentation and other appropriate resources and interprets these in response to research requests.
S/he maintains professional contacts with senior government counterparts and conducts training. With oversight of the American Supervisor, ensures that American Spaces file timely program reports and submit budget requests.
Requirements

University Degree in Library Science, Information Science, Political Science, International Affairs, or American studies is required.
Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of Library/Information Research and reference services with the use of emerging technologies and electronic resources is required.
Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading in English is required.
Level III (Good working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading of host country language is required. Language Proficiency will be tested.
Professional knowledge of the full range of reference and resource materials, and current trends in American and Nigerian information science and technology is required.
Ability to work effectively with American officers as well as develop and maintain high-level contacts in Nigeria is required.
Ability to carry out complex research and reference searches and respond rapidly to requests is required.
Selection Process
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

Remuneration
Salary Or- Ordinarily Resident N8,795,684.00 p.a. (Starting basic salary) Position Grade: FSN - 10
In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the Mission Local Compensation Plan. NOR - Not Ordinarily Resident - AEFM - US$57,270 EFM/MOH - US$49,311 (Starting Salary) p.a. Position Grade: FP-05/5.
