Tai Solarin University of Education, the first University of Education in Nigeria, was established as a specialized University of Education in the year 2005 to produce graduates who are adequately equipped in both course contents and pedagogy to meet the various challenges of contemporary university education as well as the emerging needs for vocational skills and entrepreneurship knowledge. The University lays premium on the deployment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) to academic and administrative activities. It has very strong local and international linkages with other educational institutions in the areas of teaching, learning and research activities. Her vision is to be the preferred university of the 21St Century.

The Governing Council of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun hereby announces that the positions of the Registrar and the University Librarian will be vacant by 16th December, 2015 and 31st January, 2016 respectively. It therefore wishes to commence the process of filling the impending vacancy.

Position : University Librarian 

Job Description

The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and coordination of all library services in the University, her Colleges, Schools, Institutes and other teaching and research units.
As an academic unit, the successful candidate will be expected to give both administrative and academic leadership.

Requirements
The Candidate:

The candidate shall be a person of high integrity and strong moral character with excellent interpersonal relations. He/she must be a team player with ability to delegate and instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people. He/she must demonstrate a deep knowledge of the complexity and challenges of managing the dynamics of the library system to support teaching and research in a modern university.
He/she must enjoy good health and possess demonstrable computer literacy and knowledge of electronic resources to support the library function.

Qualifications and Experience

A good honours Degree (not below Second Class Honours) and a Masters Degree in Library Studies from a recognised University.
Possession of a Ph.D Degree and membership of recognised relevant professional bodies would be added advantage.
He/she should have evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals and books.
Applicant must have at least 15 years post-qualification cognate experience 10 years of which must have been in a University library. Applicant must have been a Deputy Librarian in a University for a minimum of 5 years.
The candidate should be knowledgeable in the application of computer to library operations and services.

Conditions of Service

The successful candidate shall hold office for a tenure of five (5) years with a further extension for 1 year if deemed necessary.
Other terms and conditions are as applicable to any public-owned University in Nigeria and as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council.

Salary
CONTISS 15.
