The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking to employ suitable and qualified candidate for the position of Foreign Service National Investigator (FSNI) in LEGAT Office, Abuja.

Basic Function of the Position
The incumbent serve as an advisor to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) on security matters.
S/he assists with investigating leads and shape FBI dealings with external contacts, particularly external groups with a definitive impact on regional and U.S. national interest.
Will conduct investigations in the areas where agents are prohibited from traveling due to security restrictions and concerns.
Additionally, s/he would be part of initiative to address the rising counter-terrorism and cyber threats emanating from West Africa, fill a critical need for addressing leads, and acts as advisor to the Legatt by providing sound and expert advice and judgment on a wide variety of matters related to host county security services, politics, history and culture.
Position Requirements

University Degree in Social Sciences, Criminology or Law is required.
Minimum of three (3) years of prior work experience as a law enforcement officer is required.
Level IV (Fluent) Speaking /Reading/Writing in English is required. Language proficiency will be tested.
Level III (Good working knowledge) of one Nigeria major languages (Yoruba, Hausa
or Igbo) is required.
Thorough knowledge of the local and national culture as well as general understanding of Nigeria external environment, political, and legal sectors, and the key law enforcement players is required.
Must have advanced security and law enforcement experience in the country to understand the security apparatus of Government of Nigeria. Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships among an extensive contact list within various GON (Government of Nigeria) security agencies.
Ability to respond immediately to any security incident or crisis that may occur, including use of firearm. Must have a valid Nigeria driver license.
Selection Process
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
Additional Selection Criteria
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an overall summary rating of “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory” on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
Remuneration
Salary: OR - Ordinary Resident - N6,115,042 p.a. (Starting basic salary)
Position Grade: FSN-08
In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the Mission Local Compensation Plan.
NOR - Not Ordinarily Resident - AEFM - US$46,093,
EFM/MOH - US$39,558, (Starting Salary) p.a.
Position Grade: FP-06
