Christian Aid (CA) is a UK-based International NGO partnering with others to end poverty in Africa. Christian Aid works in more than 30 countries and has been operating in Nigeria since 2003. The Nigeria Country Programme focuses on Community Health and HIV, Accountable Governance and Gender. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person for the position of Finance Officer for a 3 month maternity Cover.
POSITION : Programme Associate
Length of Contract: 2 years
Role Purpose
To assist those responsible for managing Christian Aid partnerships and programmes and to support the effective disbursement of funds to Christian Aid partners working on the programme.
To contribute towards the smooth administration of the programme working mainly within the local office team but may have frequent contact with external partners in the course of work.
To support communications and fundraising including from institutional donors.
Role Context
The role works within the International Programmes role family positioned within Programme Support
And Development.
The role is key in providing administrative support to the work team to ensure Partnerships and programmes are managed effectively.
The role will normally work within a country office and there may be occasional travel required.
Key Outcomes:
Effective and efficient administrative systems and procedures, including support in collating and the compiling financial reports, in accordance with Christian Aid’s framework, implemented within the office to support staff (May not apply to role, depends on location)
All administration regarding grant approvals and transfers to Partners and emergency support work in accordance with Christian Aid policies and procedures. May also include support to the programme team with documentation for consultation and learning events, policy papers, reports and other programme related documents.
All receipts, reports and other documentation from Partners accurately recorded and filed both manually and electronically.
Strong relationships developed through regular communication between partners and Christian Aid.
Contribution made to other team members in the development and implementation of partner capacity building and training. (May not apply to role, depends on location).
Information provided for production of reports for institutional donors, project files maintained, supporter visits and team meetings facilitated and supported.
Requirements
About You:
You have a 1st degree in Social sciences with at least 2 years’ experience in Governance and Gender related issues.
You should have basic project management skills, strong writing and documentation skills.
You are required to have good interpersonal, organisational and communication skill.
It will be desirable that you have experience in partner portfolio, familiarity in working with faith based institutions and International NGO.

The role is line managed by the Senior Programme Coordinator Gender and Inequality

The ability to make day to day decisions to assist in the administration and smooth running of the Partnership and programmes.

Analytical skills desirable to perform day to day administrative work

Ability to take initiative, be self- motivated and build capacity of/guide new staff on HR, Finance and administrative procedures

Essential Criteria:
Understanding of and skills in Governance and Gender related issues
Basic project management skills
Strong report writing and documentation skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Good level of computer literacy
Substantial knowledge of supporting programmes and programme staff in international and national agencies
Proven ability to manage a wide range of issues, some which are not straightforward
Desirable Criteria:
Familiarity in working with faith-based institutions in Nigeria
Experience in partner portfolio management
Experience of working for an international NGO
