An Oil & Gas Facility Project to be located in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, is currently recruiting suitably qualified candidates for immediate employment into the vacant position below:
POSITION : Welding Supervisor
Job Summary
Supervises and leads crews/workers engaged in the Welding activities of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Terminal facility including; LPG Bullet Tank connections, Piping Network (Compressed, Air, LPG Line and Water Sprinklers), Pipe Supports, Steel Fabrication and Erection works.
It will be a hands on role performing a variety of welding functions with the main focus being on the welding of carbon steel & seamless pipes & flanges (1/2” to 9” NB) according toASME IX which can be subjected to Radiograph of finished welds.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leads and controls skilled labor and work crews engaged in all activities concerned with the welding works aspects of the project.
Ability to optimize resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the works.
Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and all other discipline related project and engineering documentation.
Ability to give instructions in an efficient and effective way to his workforce.
Review new welders assigned to ensure they are adequately qualified, suitably trained and instructed on the project work-scope and quality requirements.
Ensure all necessary plant and welding equipment is maintained in a current operable and calibrated condition.
Ensure consumable control requirements are closely followed.
Ensures that work crews are properly supplied with tools, equipment and materials and prevents wastage and misuse of equipment, materials and tools.
Complete the initial assignment probation monitoring of welding operatives and arrange required initial NDE through the coordination of QNQC Welding Inspector Engineer.
Ensure that weld marking requirements are followed. Ensure completed welds are of acceptable visual quality, prior to rising WIR.
Complete surveys and provide information on welding operator’s performance.
Ensure the monitoring, witness and inspection requirements of the Quality Control Inspection plan are followed and the (WIR) Welding Inspection Requests and (RFI’s) Request for Inspection forms are raised in a timely manner.
Ensure WPS for particular work-scopes are displayed that the welding operators are aware of the requirements and comply with same.
Familiar with all company safety arid QA/QC procedures, regulations and strictly enforces them with the workforce under his responsibility.
Academic Qualification and Work Experience
Minimum Diploma Certificate or equivalent professional qualification in associated discipline.
8-10 years experience in the Oil & Gas Oil and Gas industry, preferably within Petrochemical plants, Depot and associated facility, with at least 5 years of experience as Welding Supervisor.
Skills & Competencies:
A dynamic leader of his workforce.
Able to motivate others, with good communication arid interpersonal skills.
A creative thinker and very good organizer.
Certifications:
Relevant Welding certification
Other Requirement:
Must be minimum of 30 years and not exceeding 45 years in age.
Must be physically strong and healthy and does not suffer from visual or hearing impediments.
