POSITION : Business Manager
Role Target
- Responsible for providing highest quality of business performance management using the knowledge of products, services, systems & procedures to make informed decisions and maintain profitable customer relationships
Role Expectations
- Define and develop business plans for the Business Unit
- Define methodologies for the business unit
- Identify problems that affect the SBU and manage activities to achieve the development and implementation of solutions accordingly (includes planning in terms of funding, staffing and resource acquisition)
- Ensure business plans are aligned to the overall departmental and organizational objectives
- Prioritize and coordinate all projects
- Facilitate the development of existing & new businesses and ensure these are aligned to overall Group plans (includes implementation, risk mitigation and contingency plans)
- Ensure all projects/proposals are well defined in terms of detailed deliverables and time frames
- Manage and monitor the implementation of all initiatives against the overall Group objective(s)
- Determine staffing requirements for business unit, and allocate available resources accordingly
- Manage, coordinate and monitor the implementation of all business initiatives against specific timelines
- Identify reasons for delays in projects and plan activities to overcome such accordingly
- Identify and respond to risks / escalated problems within business unit
- Ensure the performance of existing businesses is up to the required standard at all times
- Manage available human resources optimally for overall business performance.
- Supervisory/Leadership/Managerial Complexity:
- Set and manage team objectives as well as communicate business strategy
- Ensure adherence to defined policies and procedures
- Monitor and evaluate the performance standards of direct reports
- Ensure adherence to quality standards as agreed within the department
- Provide clear direction and mentoring to subordinates
- Promote and encourage teamwork among subordinates
- Motivate subordinates towards the attainment of goals
- Proactively manage and resolve conflicts
- Exhibit flexibility in changing circumstances
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Person Skills:
- Creative business performance management
- Adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Free to use own judgment in resolving daily issues but within limits of authority.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in any discipline, preferably in the Social Sciences.
- MBA is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 5 years’ work experience of which 3 - 4 years should have been in a service environment
