POSITION : Lead Field Engineer – Gas/Steam Mechanical
Role Summary/Purpose
- The Lead Field Engineer will provide on-site direction on all customer products and facilities within a given territory as required by the company.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical direction and leadership during installation, startup, commissioning and maintenance to customer owned power generation and industrial facilities
- Prepare job-planning documents that define the scope of the outage and installation task to be performed through engineering instructions, drawings, and process instructions. Provide input for Daily Outage and Weekly Installation Reports.
- Communicate effectively with Installation Directors and Service Managers utilizing customers’ CTQ in job planning and execution and with Resource Directors regarding site arrivals, departures and job progression.
- Provides leadership and technical direction of installation to skilled labor performing work on customer sites.
- Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
- Possess technical capacity to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance and installation checkout for a wide range of equipment vintages.
- Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages
- Troubleshoot mechanical operations and maintenance problems in the steam and gas turbine technologies.
- Actively engage in business productivity and simplification initiatives.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
- Business acumen and ability to sell GE products to the customer.
- Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
- Customer service mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and project management skills (prior experience preferred).
- Requisite oral and written communication skills.
- Solid interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Prior field engineering experience (4 years minimum) is preferred.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management and Web-based applications
- Willingness and ability to travel significantly with no geographical restrictions.
- Must have ability to perform night work as required to meet business needs
- Must have a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
- Ability and willingness to travel 75% of the time, as required.
- A valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate will be required (please indicate clearly on your resume)
- Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in Nigeria
Desired Characteristics
- Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred but not required.
- Extensive Field Engineering Services experience is required, on Gas and Steam turbines.
- Turbine experience - Steam and Gas Turbine experience is preferred, on General Electric, Siemens, Westinghouse, Alstom, or other OEM mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
