We are recruiting to fill the positions of:
Job Title: Case Worker
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Scope of the Vacancy
- The Case Worker will be responsible for the collection of information needed to identify, register, analyze the needs of children at risk, including Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASCs), design the follow-up plan for each identified child and actively contribute in case management, collaborating with the other Case Workers and with the Community Support Case Workers to deal directly with the beneficiaries in the targeted areas.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Case Workers’ Supervisor, he/she:
- Collects the information needed to identify, registers, analyzes the needs of any child at risk, including UASC;
- Designs the case plan for the identified child at risk;
- Conducts registration and case management activities as assigned by the Case Worker Supervisor;
- Fills the standard forms of registration accurately for the case management and follow-up;
- Contributes in the success of the trainings for community leaders, also by accompanying them directly on the field;
- Joins actively the case management meetings and trainings to raise gaps and recommendations based on the daily work on the field;
- Supports the data-entry activities providing the proper information about each child at risk from the caseload;
- Communicates regularly with the Case Worker Supervisor for updates on achievements and challenges and any changes in the community’s social context and security status;
- Ensures that all documentation for Case management of Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASCs) and children at risk is conducted and filed according to required standards of data protection and confidentiality;
- Collects and documents success stories for reports;
- Adopts standard operating procedure (SOPs) for the Child Protection and case management system and data management protocols;
- Performs any other necessary action related to the position to achieve the objectives of the project and of COOPI in Nigeria if requested by the Team Leader
- Upholds COOPI’s mission and Charter of Values;
- Follows and enforces all COOPI codes of conduct and policies (globally and in-country);
- Participate in the field work of the nutrition survey (impact assessment)
- Perform any other action related with the position needed to achieve the objectives of the projects and of COOPI Nigeria if requested by his/her supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Min Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree/HND in Education or in any other relevant field.
Other Requirements:

Job Title: Case Worker Supervisor
Location: Borno
Scope of the Vacancy
- The Case Worker Supervisor acts as the focal point of a specific geographical area), and within that area, monitors the case management daily activities and the efficiency and effectiveness of the team of Case Workers and Community Support Case Workers.
- He/She is accountable for the monitoring of the cases and will propose possible change in the team configuration depending on the actual case load in the designated geographical location.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the Protection Officer, he/she:
- Supervises, supports and leads the Case management team during the day by day activities in the assigned geographical area (Case workers and Community support workers);
- Monitors the day by day activities, for example ensuring all registered children’s cases are properly managed, according to the guidelines, the available referral pathway and service mapping;
- Leads trainings for community leaders, government social workers and case workers on Case Management and Child Protection in Emergencies under request of the Protection Officer;
- Supports the Child Protection Officer and Data-entry clerk in the data-entry activities for the cases of the geographical area assigned (ex. interpreting the forms and explaining the cases);
- Communicates regularly with the Protection Officer for updates on achievements and challenges;
- Directly communicates effectively with other caseworkers as part of conducting individual case management;
- Collects the reports from the assigned geographical area and supervises the overall integrity and uniformity of methods among the different areas of works and teams;
- Supports the Protection Officer in raising gaps and recommendations both regarding external issues and possible ones with the collaborators;
- Actively contributes to the case management activities filling the forms, assessing the needs, dealing with the beneficiaries like all the other Case Workers do;
- Actively contributes in training the partners (social workers of the institutional stakeholders);
- Ensures the daily activities’ monitoring focusing on the quality of the work, security, interpretation and reporting of possible changes of the social context.

Job Title: Head of Mission
Location: Abuja

COOPI in Nigeria
- COOPI started its operations in North-East Nigeria in July 2014 to carry out a rapid evaluation of the most relevant constraints suffered by the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) displaced by the food crisis and the Boko Haram insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin.
- COOPI’s aim is to support the most basic and pressing needs of communities affected by the conflict.
- COOPI is providing a multi-sectoral emergency response to the IDPs, returnees and host population focused on food security, nutrition, protection and education.
- COOPI main area of intervention is Yobe State but we are also present in Borno.
Description of the Position
- The Head of Mission provides leadership and strategic direction of COOPI’s operations in Nigeria and is responsible for the implementation and development of the country programme in line with COOPI’s organisational and country strategy, policies and procedures.
- The HoM is also responsible for the management and capacity building of the staff, securing donor funding and to represent the organisation to the government, donors, and other appropriate bodies - including clusters, UN agencies and the media.
- The HoM reports directly to the Area Manager at the HQ. The position is based in Abuja.
Responsibilities
- Institutional relations: He/she manages relations with the main institutional donors and with potential ones. He/she represents COOPI in the country/area by engaging in relations with institutions, NGOs, local and international organizations and partners. He/she also is responsible of the organization’s reputation in the country.
- Strategy and planning: He/she verifies and proposes to the Area Manager the intervention priorities to consolidate the organization’s opportunity to be more involved in the country. He/she contributes to the definition of the Country Strategy and proposes the country planning (projects and coordination).
- Projects’ management: He/she coordinates and directly monitors projects, guaranteeing the correct implementation in conformity with the contractual obligations and donors’ procedures, and in line with COOPI’s procedures and management standards. He/she coordinates the elaboration, writing and documents’ preparation for presenting new projects, referring to the Area Manager and the headquarters support offices.
- He/she is responsible for the preparation of projects reports and all the monitoring documents requested by the central headquarters. He/she ensures the transmission of all official and administrative project documents to the central headquarters.
- Country office management: He/she is responsible for all different aspects related to the country office management: economic and financial situation, local regulations, office organization charts, logistics, local and expatriate personnel management, in conformity with the organization’s guidelines. He/she guarantees the respect of the country’s legislation and administrative regulation.
- Staff management: He/she is responsible for the local staff management. He/she participates and supports the Area Manager and the Human Resources office in the selection of the expatriate staff. He/she coordinates and monitors the country’s expatriate staff management.
- Safety: He/she is responsible for the expatriate staff security, for the correct implementation and respect of the general security rules.
- Economic and financial management: He/she is responsible for the country’s economic result. He/she supervises the financial management and ensures - through the administrative function – that all financial reporting deadlines and donor/COOPI’s procedures are respected. He/she participates to the projects/coordination budget preparation. He/she has the signature for all COOPI’s bank accounts in the country.
- Visibility: He/she cooperates with the Communication and Fund-Raising office for all communication, awareness and fund raising activities implemented in and for the country.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in International Education, International Development, Health and Nutrition or a related field or equivalent work.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the humanitarian field and in a similar position, with a track record of success and results achieved;
- Previous experience with an international humanitarian NGO is an advantage;
- Desirable experience of working on EU/ECHO, USAid/OFDA and UN projects;
- Experience of working within an insecure environment with responsibility for security planning, monitoring and management.
- Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills;

Job Title: Project Manager, Protection

Project Summary
- Based on a consolidated care model for children associated to armed forces and groups implemented in several conflict areas over the years, COOPI will establish a Centre of Transit and Orientation (TOC) for children formerly associated with Boko Haram in need of psychosocial and other assistance before reunification and integration into their families of origin. An age-appropriate individualised plan will include: recreational, psychosocial and educational activities to support the child’s readjustment to family life, and prepare him/her for reintegration into the community.
- The plan will also include life-skills and competency building for income generating activities and employment. It will make provision for children to be referred to health, nutritional and legal services as necessary.
- These activities will be complemented by family tracing and sensitization of the communities of origin. The plan will also include follow-up support and monitoring activities through protection networks identified, trained, supervised and supported by COOPI in the communities of origin.
Scope of the Vacancy
- The Project Manager is responsible for the overall activities’ planning, execution and reporting of his/her projects.
- He/she is directly assigned to, and responsible of the supervision of all logistics, HR, financial and overall functioning aspects of the projects.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of base and in link with the Program Coordinator, he/she:
Project Management:
- Designs the detailed work plan in line with the project guidelines and description, guaranteeing the smooth implementation of all the activities on-time, on-quality and on-budget;
- In cooperation and synergy with the project staff, plans and monitors the activities’ progress, in compliance with the contract signed with the donor, with donor’s and COOPI’s procedures, and with the specific Project Structure and Reporting Lines definition, making use of the financial instruments provided by the organization;
- In collaboration with the Administrative and the Logistics team, plans and monitors the expenditures in line with the project’s implementation needs;
- In cooperation with the Program Coordinator, finalizes the data provided by his/her team, supports the preparation, in compliance with the deadlines, of the narrative reports expected by the donors and by the partners;
- Coordinates the overall project: supervises the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the staff; monitors the accuracy and efficiency of the case management activities; in collaboration with the Child Protection team, deals with possible cases which cannot be addressed by the available and ongoing referral network;
- Contributes in consolidating the case management referral network by establishing proficient collaboration with the partners working in the targeted areas and actively suggesting gaps and recommendations to the supervisors;
- Contributes and approves the line of training designed by the Child Protection;
- In collaboration with the Program Coordinator and head of base, prepares all the formal communication and contract modification requests (ex. budget modification) of the project;
- Manages the goods purchased for the project; for all goods purchased by the project, support updates of the inventory and guarantee the respect of the policies and guidelines, in cooperation with the Logistics Office;
- In collaboration with the Program Coordinator and in synergy with the specific reporting lines of the projects, promotes and manages relations with the local government institutions, NGOs, and other local partners available in the area;
- Executes any other task necessary to good and timely completion of the projects, identified in mutual agreement.
- In coordination with the Administrative team, supports in hiring of new staff directly related to the project and conducts staff appraisals Upholds COOPI’s mission and Charter of Values;

Psychosocial activities’ follow up:
- Support technically his/her team
- Contribute to the identification of psychologist issue of the beneficiaries and support the team to deal with.
- Organize technical meeting with the team and the main stakeholders
- Build his/her team capacities on Child Protection and case management
- Train project teams and local partners on approaches, methodology and tools to understand how victims of GBV and other forms of violence are affected by their involvement in armed conflict and the occurrence of fighting
- Manage directly if need be the most complicated cases.
- Train and / or re cycle teams on the proper use of situation assessment and case management tools;
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in Psychology.
- At least 3 years of working experience with INGO on Child Protection area. Experience working with children associated with armed group it’s an advantage
- Good knowledge of project cycle management
- Experience in clinical psychology and / or psychopathology (victimology, medical emergency cell, etc.)
- Proven interest & commitment to humanitarian and development principles and a demonstrable understanding of conflict/post conflict development contexts
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing

Job Title: Head of Base, Potiskum

Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Mission and in link with the Coordination, he/she ensures COOPI intervention coordination in his/her area of intervention. He/She:
- Coordinates the implementation of the country strategy in his/her area of intervention
- Participate in the development and updating of the country strategy by providing information from the field
- Ensuring the implementation in the field of the part of the country strategy for which he/she is responsible in collaboration with the head of Mission, the Program Coordinator and the project Managers.

- Coordinate and control the implementation of planned projects
