Job Title: Director, Communications & Storytelling

Position Summary
- Teach For All is seeking a Director, Communications and Storytelling to join the founding team of its Global Learning Lab for Community Impact. The new director will have the opportunity to build and execute a new communications strategy that ensures the lab achieves its goal of becoming a globally influential source of stories, insight and learning about what it takes to ensure all kids are able to build a better future for themselves and all of us.
- The new director will design and manage a cutting edge approach to capturing, sharing, and amplifying the lab’s learning in order to reach and impact a global audience of practitioners both within and beyond our network. Core Responsibilities
- Envision, design and manage the lab’s communications and storytelling strategy
- Lead the development of a vision and strategy for the lab’s storytelling and knowledge sharing efforts, in order to the lab as a globally-recognised source of stories, insights and learning about the drives of community-level progress
- Design and deliver lab-wide content and communications strategy in close partnership with Teach For All’s public affairs team to ensure the strategy supports the organization’s marketing and communication goals and leverages already established resources
- Develop the capacity of all lab team members as storytellers, ensuring they are equipped to support content-development and publication efforts, working with all members of the lab team to capture, curate and share insights, tools and resources
- Ensure all lab materials are of the highest level of quality, establishing templates for all published content and setting internal norms for content creation and communications
- Manage the capture and curation of global insights, community stories, tools and resources
- Oversee the capture, publication and amplification of outstanding video and written stories of the communities making progress and leaders driving change worldwide
- Lead the capture of the latest best practices, tools and resources from across our global network of community leaders and external experts, preparing them for publication
- Manage the digital publication of three insights papers annually, working with all team members to identify our latest global insights and present them to our network audience
- Collaborate with other Teach For All colleagues, or external contractors, in the capture, editing and publication of content
- Develop and drive our strategy for the global sharing of insights, stories, tools and resources
- Work in partnership with Teach For All’s Public Affairs team to ensure our insights, stories, tools and resources reach and impact our intended audience
- Establish the lab’s core infrastructure for sharing these materials, including developing the digital platform to present our latest insights, stories, tools and resources
- Develop and manage the dissemination plan that ensures our learning reaches and impacts our intended global audience
- Support lab team members to craft messages, stories and presentations for publication in external media channels or presentation at external conferences
- Oversee the work of the Director, Operations to disseminate lab stories, insights, tools and resources to our core audience.
Knowledge & Skills
- The ideal candidate will be an expert communicator with a track record of telling stories and presenting materials of the highest quality across a variety of media, including video, print and online, using innovative methods to reach and influence a wide global audience.
- You will also be an outstanding project manager who can work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities, with a proven ability to set and execute a communications and strategy that includes managing the capture, curation and publication of content and resources.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Outstanding strategist and project manager with a proven ability to set a vision and strategy for a new initiative and deliver it to a high level
- Brilliant storyteller and communicator with a track record of developing outstanding, cutting edge content in variety of media to influence others
- Exceptional collaborator who is able to work with multiple stakeholders, across different teams, and with external contractors
- Expert in the use of a variety of media to convey messages and stories to diverse audiences with a passionate belief in the power of stories, insights and materials to influence others
- Excellent executer with experience project managing individuals and teams to create and disseminate high quality content
- Social sector or education sector professional with experience in communications or communications professional with knowledge of education and/or community development
The following expertise will be a real plus:
- Experience building the capacity of others to develop excellent content
- Experience working globally and collaborating with stakeholders in multiple cultural contexts
- Proficiency in a language other than English.
