Description

The Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, hereby announces that the position of University Librarian of the University will be vacant by 1 January, 2019
In accordance with the provisions of the Yusuf Maitama Sule University Law 2017 (as amended) and in executing its powers contained therein, the Governing Council wishes to commence the process of filling the impending vacancy.

Responsibilities

The University Librarian is a Principal Officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of Library matters in the University
He/She shall be in charge of the management and administration of the University Library services, staff, and facilities in faculties, departments and centers and in linkages with other Library Organizations and publishers, both at National and International levels.

Qualification and Experience
Candidates shall possess the following qualifications and qualities:

A relevant Ph.D Degree
ICT compliant in Library Services
A good record of scholarly publications
Shall not be below the rank of Deputy Librarian or equivalent in a university system
Shall have a minimum of 15 years cognate experience with capacity to initiate research in a university system or comparable organization
Membership of professional associations is an added advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable in Nigerian Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Governing Council.
