Job Description
- Our client is looking to hire a Renewable Energy Engineer- Solar, who will be responsible for conducting solar site assessments to determine a customer’s suitability for Solar PV solution, providing them with a proposal outlining the system size and cost of deployment, details on cost saving analysis versus fossil fuel self-generation, and helping them to navigate the solar financing process.
- The Renewable Energy Engineers are the face of the company on renewable energy mandates and must be able to build relationships quickly; communicate effectively and think on their feet. The ideal candidate will have experience in design, engineering, research and installation of Solar PV solutions in the renewable energy space. They will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with little supervision.
Responsibilities
- Conduct data collection and customer enumeration and energy audit.
- Conducting feasibility studies of potential renewable projects to determine if they are economically viable.
- Conducting site surveys to identify the best location for solar panels based on exposure to sunlight, shading, and other factors.
- Use of Solar PV simulation software e.g. PVsyst, Helioscope etc, to make project specific decisions.
- Coordinate the deployment of Solar PV and other related projects e.g. solar pv systems selection, procurement, installation and maintenance plans, including the supervision of sub-contractors selected.
- Recommend improvements to existing solar systems where yield is insufficient for current power needs.
- Coordinate the process for obtain all necessary permits and approvals from the local municipality for the installation of the solar system where required.
- Monitoring solar energy production and making adjustments to maximise efficiency.
- Recommending improvements to the solar system design to increase efficiency or maximize cost.
- Conduct research and be updated on renewable energy policies, agencies, and tax credits within Nigeria and globally.
- Assist the company to derive financing options including loans from banks or credit unions, leases from solar companies, or purchase agreements with solar system providers.
- Maintain project records and maintenance plan for projects deployed.
Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum of Second Class Upper graduating grade.
- A minimum of seven (7) years working experience in the renewable energy sector.
- Curriculum Vitae detailing similar experience executing at leave five (5) solar projects.
- A registered member of NSE and/or COREN required.
- Demonstrate ability to use energy audit apparatus like energy loggers, power quality analyzer, solar irradiation meters, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to use PV simulation software (PVSyst, Helioscope, Homer Pro, among others) to compare different sets of modules or inverter technologies, as well as mounting structures and different plant layouts(which is beneficial in choosing the optimal design in terms of predicted energy yield and cost structure).
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
