Job Title: Head of Accounting

Location: Wuye, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

As the Head of Accounts, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our business objectives.
This is a key leadership role that requires strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Responsibilities
Financial Management:

Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Develop and monitor financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making by senior management.
Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Financial Reporting:

Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Coordinate the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead and manage the accounts team, providing guidance, training, and mentoring to ensure a high level of performance.
Set performance objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and implement professional development plans for team members.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork and individual growth.

Cash Flow Management:

Manage cash flow and liquidity, ensuring adequate funds are available to meet operational and investment needs.
Implement effective cash management strategies, including cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and investment planning.
Monitor and manage banking relationships and optimize cash management processes.

Risk Management:

Identify financial risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any financial or regulatory issues.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ICAN ACCA or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
5+ years relevant work experience.
Proven experience in a similar leadership role, preferably within the real estate industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, financial management, and reporting standards.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, with advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
