Job Title: Factory Safety Officer

Location: Awka, Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

We are looking to hire an experienced safety officer to maintain a safe, industrial working environment in an aluminum extrusion factory.

Responsibilities and Duties

Stay updated on a federal, state, and local health, safety and industrial regulations.
Ensure installations, operations and maintenance of machines follow all safety protocols.
Ensure accurate health, industrial hygiene & safety and trainings records are kept.
Train employees on use of fire extinguisher and administering first aid measures.
Responsible for factory hygiene, waste management.
Ensure safe handling, proper labeling and storage of hazardous substances.
Create factory safety protocols to identify, prevent, and manage work-related injuries and illnesses.
Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
Educate staff and factory workers on the health and safety programs.
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies for all factory personnel.
Enforce the use of personal protective equipment.
Must have knowledge of machine safety guidelines.

Requirements

Minimum of HND in related fields.
Completion of NYSC program (compulsory).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) or OSHA (compulsory)
ISPON membership or membership of other professional health and safety body will be an added advantage.
At least 5 years experience as safety officer.
Proficient with PowerPoint to create slides and presentations.
In depth knowledge of legislation and procedures (e.g., OSHA/EPA/ ISO).
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Diligent with great attention to detail.

Salary
N80,000 - N100,000 / month.
