Description
- As the Workshop Manager, you will deploy and retire physical assets operated at terminals, ports and harbors and be responsible for delivering operational excellence in the lifecycle management of our assets so we can deliver on the promise to our customers in the most cost-efficient way.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Ensure that all HSSE policies are enforced and drive safety culture.
- Manage workshop team effectively to ensure KPI and budgetary targets are met.
- Part of the overall Site management team and assists with strategic decisions.
- Identify and upskill talent.
- Shares knowledge and skills.
- Ensure the training and development plan is achieved.
- Manages quality through discipline and consequence management.
- Ability to work across all levels of staff.
- Complete twice year performance appraisals on all workshop staff and stores.
Operations:
- Plans and optimizes efficiencies within the Workshop.
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of the Visual Management System
- Manage and oversee the workshop stores and stock
- Find synergies with a view to improve productivity across all departments.
- Implement and manage workflow within the Workshop.
- Optimizes available resources and assigns tasks accordingly to ensure the KPI and targets are met.
- Removal of waste out of the production process including rework of container repairs
- Ensure that all assets are maintained.
- Identify potential problems at an early stage to ensure contingencies are put in place to allow business and service to our customers to be conducted without interruptions.
- Monitor operational performance and propose corrective action.
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
The Customer:
- Attends to and adheres to the clients Service Level Agreements and quality standards
- Manage customer expectations
- Ongoing communication with internal and external customers Attend all customer meetings as required
- Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints.
Who we are Looking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other relevant fields
- Experience in managing an operations team
- Previous experience in container structural repairs is an advantage
- Hands-on and people management experience
- Good problem-solving skills and contingency planning
- Matric or equivalent
- HSSE mind set
- Experience in Project Management
