Zedcrest Group is a new age, goal-driven financial services Group, with 3 subsidiaries (consumer lending, fund management and securities trading) regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Job Title: Backend Engineer, DotNet (Core Banking Systems)

Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in .NET development to take a lead role in building and maintaining our core banking system.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, distributed applications, ensuring high performance and reliability to support our growing customer base. This is a challenging and impactful role for someone passionate about backend development, distributed systems, and the financial technology domain.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our core banking system using .NET technologies.
  • Architect and implement scalable and distributed solutions to handle high traffic and ensure system reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in .NET development, guiding the team in best practices and architectural decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend engineers, to align technical solutions with business requirements.
  • Optimize and enhance the performance of the core banking system to handle large-scale traffic and meet service level objectives.
  • Conduct thorough performance analysis and implement improvements to ensure the system's responsiveness.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards in the banking sector.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, APIs, and deployment processes.

Requirements

  • First Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related courses (Must have completed NYSC)
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in backend development using .NET technologies.
  • Strong expertise in building and maintaining distributed systems.
  • Experience with high-traffic and high-availability applications, preferably in the financial sector.
  • Proficiency in database design and optimization, with experience in SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of security principles and best practices in financial applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in the finance or fintech sector is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Professional fluency in English is vital, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and contribute positively to a team.
  • Desire and aptitude for learning new concepts on the job.
  • Proactiveness; going beyond the obvious, gathering complex data to get to the heart of issues.
  • Time management - Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, manage deadlines and work efficiently.
  • Accountability – Being reliable, dependable, organized, and take responsibility for actions.
