We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Mechanical Technician

Location: Lagos
Employee Type: Full Time

Job Summary

  • You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment used in material handling systems. This role ensures the efficient and reliable operation of machinery to support the smooth flow of materials within the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair:

  • Perform regular maintenance on mechanical equipment, including conveyors, hoists, cranes, and automated systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.

Inspection and Testing:

  • Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems to ensure they are operating correctly.
  • Test and calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Installation:

  • Install new mechanical equipment and systems according to specifications.
  • Ensure proper alignment, fit, and functioning of machinery components during installation.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Document any modifications or changes made to equipment.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor immediately.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and operations staff to resolve mechanical issues.
  • Provide support and assistance to colleagues as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills.

Qualifications
Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical diploma or certification in mechanical technology or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a mechanical technician in a material handling or similar industry.
  • Experience with conveyors, cranes, hoists, and automated material handling systems.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, noisy).
