Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) is one of the largest oil producers in Nigeria and one of its largest investors. In Nigeria, we operate under a joint-venture arrangement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the onshore and offshore assets in the Niger Delta region.
Chevron also has extensive interests in multipartner deepwater operations. We operate the Agbami Field, one of Nigeria’s largest deepwater discoveries. We also have a nonoperated interest in the Usan Field.

Job Description Summary
- This role involves working as part of a team to deliver business-focused and solution-oriented legal support to client groups, on technical and commercial transactions and projects, policy and regulatory matters, and advocacy efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team and provide solution oriented and business focused legal support to client groups on technical and commercial transactions and projects.
- Offer general commercial and legal advice to clients on matters pertaining to the business segments and portfolios.
- Draft, review and/or negotiate complex commercial agreements.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on policy issues regarding legislation, regulations and rules enacted by the government.
- Provide support on advocacy efforts as necessary, including the formulation of strategy and engagement of relevant stakeholders.
- Support operationalization of the Petroleum Industry Act.
What You Will Bring
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) - Minimum of Second Class Honours, Upper Division.
- Barrister at law (B.L.) from the Nigerian Law School – Minimum of Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
- Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 5 - 10 years post Call to the Nigerian Bar.
- Established industry/business knowledge and experience, including drafting, negotiating and closing oil and gas transactions, and providing legal advice and counsel to clients.
Leadership:
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership and communication skills. Must communicate effectively across broad functional and organizational lines and with regulatory and governmental stakeholders.
Additional Considerations:
- Demonstrated job knowledge and technical proficiency.
- Must be a highly collaborative and motivated self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced team environment and collaborating with business clients, colleagues and outside counsel.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
